Oral hygiene during pregnancy should not be overlooked. For healthy teeth and gums, brush thoroughly but gently at least twice a day, or even after every meal when possible, using a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.
It is advisable to visit your dentist regularly to remove plaque and tartar from areas that brushing alone cannot reach. If you haven’t seen your dentist recently, schedule an appointment soon for a detailed cleaning and check-up.
Do not postpone treatment when dental problems arise. If necessary, there are pain relievers and antibiotics that are safe throughout pregnancy — but always take them under the guidance and approval of your doctor.
